ty appei! i've been meaning to make a thread like this but i've been so busy w/stuff that i haven't had time. heres some resources i can think off off the top of my head

  • trueref gesture - my prefered gesture drawing tool
  • pose maniacs - posed rotatable 3d models w musculature
  • adorkastock - another large pose library w/free and 4pay images
  • New Masters Academy Gesture Drawing Sessions - theres several instructors in this playlist but ive watched the ones with glenn vilppu what must be like around 50 times, great follow-along resource!
  • marco buccis 10 min to better painting series - a youtube series that covers some painting fundamentals in a fun concise way
  • scott mclouds 'understanding comics' - learning how comics work, via comic! this was very influential on little kringle
  • james gurneys blogspot and substack - yeah incase u didnt know james gurneys a fucking blogger too!! LMAOOO . he posts in depth thoughts, recommendations, book reviews, and lots of pictures of pretty paintings. his newer blogspot posts are just short blurbs that redirect to his substack, but its still cool to check out the 'painting gear' tag on his blog
  • michael hampton figure design and invention - used this book a lot in college, deffo recommend
  • scott robertsons youtube channel - a great resource for more mechanical and technical drawing

:kirbart:  if people end up sharing a lot of links ill try 2 compile it in a masterpost / webpage somewhere that way it's nice and navigable

Film Grab -- a classic
shot.cafe -- another film reference site, but with some creative controls
flim.ai -- flim.ai, yet another film reference site, but it has some creative controls, similar to shot.cafe, main problem is a limit on images per day
Evan E Richards -- ANOTHER film reference site, fewer films, but the quality of both the images & the quantity per film is vastly superior.

Cinema Without People -- like a film reference site, but without any people in the stills
gun imdb -- specific gun references from films
Kimodameshi 7  -- Kimo 7 refs 1
Kimodameshi 7 - more -- Kimo 7 refs 2

fashion history!
doctormacro - celebrity stills -- antique(?) celebrity photography from film or whatever.  Because it's old celebrities, it's almost exclusively black/white, from my experience, but lots of great lighting portraiture & value study material
oh hi -- everyone know's oh, hi!  portrait/real life photography for reference
Art Anatomy Learned from Sketching by Kota Kato -- ehentai link  :blushy:
Claire Hummel's Historical Fashion Reference & Resource -- incredibly well put together and extensive google doc

Art Reference Tumblr Blogs -- a large list of art reference tumblr blogs
vislib.tumblr -- a tumblr visual library
stuff to draw -- stuff to draw, tumblr
visual reverence -- "FOOD FOR YOUR EYEHOLES"
'robotic network' -- more of a sci-fi based reference little library
; side note: need more of these.

Sargent's Advice -- a .pdf of Advice on painting from John Singer Sargent
Craig Mullins Sijun Posts -- on the tin.  Out of context Mullins advice.
Munsell's Manual of Colour -- .pdf
Kimodameshi III Art Questions -- a more contextual art questions/answer google doc

Lab Sliders -- a more technical site on LAB sliders & help for learning to use them if you're insane enough
dezoomify for Google Arts & Culture -- this lets you get some delicious high quality Google Arts & Culture images on your PC
Gamut Maker -- a gamut maker.  Coolorus does it too, if you have PS, but it's kinda handy anyways

Evan Mehl Amundsen Unlisted Playlist -- Oxealots
Evan Mehl Amundsen Unlisted Playlist -- The Retreat
Evan Mehl Amundsen Unlisted Playlist -- Underfootling
Evan Mehl Amundsen Unlisted Playlist -- The Sentinoii
Michael Pavlovich Intro to ZBrush

I tend to forget it exists despite having a subscription for it, but Shotdeck is incredible for finding high quality screenshots of media. It's fully filtered from cinematic shot, color, director, similar shots like the one you found, time of day, set, location and so on.

For example!

sugoi

trying out this timed drawing site- you plug in a pinterest board of refs and go.
really nice for practicing a specific thing (ie. you could use a board of only tiger refs, only enviroments, etc)

I second this book so hard. It's an extremely good read and I'd highly recommend anyone to read it if they get the chance. A must for the shelf.
