Hello!!!
This is my sketchbook where I'll post random stuff. Not entirely like my physical one where I write notes and stuff within it, but I'll throw up things I find interesting to take note of for the future and references.

Tons of the references I have from ancient reference packs on gumroad so I don't know if I could share the entire pack on here, but then again.. I don't even know if they're sold anymore lol.

I'm always up to something, so heck.. I'll probably even show some of the progress on the bar I'm helping redesign.

What do you do when you're so out of your comfort zone without any of your usual tools away from home?

I'm here trying to figure out how the hell I'm able to help with this bar project in a space I can't paint in (technically I have my iPad, but my iPad is about as useless as my sketchbook here).

So here I am tinkering away listening to the entire Jet Set Radio OST and looking at screenshots for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

My friend who's working on creating stickers for the space has already made a really cool design, but with a completely silent chat, it's difficult lol.

For context, this is a pinball barcade with tabletop games.

Oh yeah, I was trying to talk to the team to give them some realistic idea of my ability to help here with my limitations and remembered a super fascinating resource I have always found fascinating.

So that bar wanted me to do a quick rush job to create a logo by tonight for the paper.
It was all super last minute and I've managed to create something.

It was all for nothing though, because the owner's business partner (and income source) decided to go, "let's use ai instead" after viewing what I made.
This is for a Seattle based newspaper that is from what I can tell.. very against ai.

This is going to be fucking horrible.

oh man... that sucks. it's not your fault though if they didn't give you enough time to cook, creating a good recognizable logo takes time!! your not like, god. SMH tho shame on them for even concidering let alone using AI after trying to collaberate w a local artist. idk how u feel abt it but i know id hold a HELLA grudge.

usually ive got @ least a pen so ill draw on a napkin. or if im desperate ill use my nail to draw on receipt paper if i have one in my pocket. mindset wise idk, its deff a fake ot till u make it confidence thing. u just have to work w what u got and figure it out as you go.

but yea, i hope this is still a thing u can be a part of cause it does seem cool! but also if they aren't treating u right, they arent treating you right! ditch those hoes if your not being appreciated

If it happens again, I'll definitely dip. The owner is very dear to me and even he is very anti ai, but I'll just stop being involved if it continues.
At some point there's plans to talk to the business partner to get them to understand that if you're wanting to make this business a success and maintain that it is a community effort, don't fucking use ai.

thru running this forum i've learned that imgur is blocked in the uk and catbox is blocked in the philippines LOL. roly shared a list of image hosters which i immortalized on the rules/announcements board. more on topic tho, these thumbnails are looking good!! i love the sense of depth

Good to know! I'll try to find a good alternative in the list then!

Also thank you! I've been making use of some cool/warm gray brush pens to help as well lately.
