Character Concept Brain Dump

These are things I'm planning to draw at some point, but that doesn't mean I'll actually get to them all. And who says that 2 or 3 or 10 ocs stemming from the same idea can't exist? Know what that is?? BORING.

So feel free to steal from here or contribute something yourself!

◇ Siren Anglerfish

  I know. super original. /s
  lures lost sailors to their (eventual) doom.
  this siren is actually very lonely nowadays- she just wants a friend.
  so, she lures humans to her lair where they can be best friends forever~
  but she unfortunately is no good at caring for them,  
  and eventually has to venture out to replace them after they've .. expired.
  (im actually drawing this rn hehhehehehe)

◇ Hydra but silly

  Balloon animal dragon with three heads (they all gave googly eyes pasted on)
  Three-headed bird with the dumbest looking bird you can find refs for

◇ Swarm of harmless cornsnakes

  Gorgon with a head of cute lil cornsnakes.
  They wear warm scarves for the snakes to curl up into.

◇ Mothman & Mothnephew

  typical red-eyed mothman and his nephew- a fluffy white moth who tries his best to be scary

◇ Chinese Cardinal Directions

  AKA The 4 Sacred Beasts. i just think they sound cool.
  id have to do a bit of research before drawing them tho

◇ The Four Humors/Temperaments

  but as like... people. yeah.
  not really sure about this one because they're SO broad as topics
  maybe if i focus in one just one theme across all of them? ie.) temperature, mood, etc

◇ Creature with a big tail so i can put moss on it

  no that's it.

◇ Sudjenitse

  Trio of spirits from Slavic mythology.
  each one weaves your child's fate: death, dysfunctions, longevity.
  so an evil/scary lady, a sickly/bandaged one, and an angelic lady.

◇ Obnoxiously colored teeth

  i saw art of a character with REALLY blue sharp teeth and now i wanna make one too

◇ Harpy

  ...they look cool as hell

◇ Something with useless lizard legs

  ok hear me out- i love how lizards' janky little claws look
  and i REALLY love how people draw them just kinda dangling off mythical creatures.
  whatever that is- i wanna draw it

the noise balloon animal 3 headed dragon would make when killed would be like, physically dangerous i feel like. like id have 2 wear ear protection. i've never heard of the four humors/tempermants before tho!!!! ima look that up rn.



i think it would be also cool to have a character thats a non euclidean body of water, like that one traveling swamp girl in mushi-shi but less swamp and more water. fully "only a person sometimes"


also someone that has nanomachines in their blood so everytime they use their nanomachines they experience bloodloss. like we've done bloodbending we've done nanomachines i want to combine the two as well as their side effects

in that vein i'd like to add some, just because i think they're cool and although some of them are really popular i always love seeing more of them so i shall raise you these:

• seven deadly sins
• the archangels
• four horsemen of the apocalypse
• mahjong suits + honors (characters, pins, bamboo, winds, dragons)
• the five japanese elements

hoping you'll work on your list! always excited to see more sugoi art. especially that gorgon concept sounds super cute, so please please draw it!

and actually... im working on my take on seven sins rn. (ty for letting me borrow our shared braincell u can have it back now)
its actually what i came here to yap about bc im so excited to start concept arts of them

Pride - lucifer. blind to one's own shortcomings. they're gonna be wearing a veil to hide their eyes. ornate details and trimmings on their clothing. and wings. somewhere. not huge wings though. (i also wanna make a "pre-fall" version where the veil is transparent like this.

Greed - mammon. Dragon hoard. I don't know how I'm going to draw that as a character, but there will be dragon themes and a shit ton of golden trinkets draped all over them. If it doesnt make the design too noisy, i might also incorporate "being more than others through possessions" somehow.

Envy - leviathan. having no identity. not whole. i saw this little fella and thought it fit the theme im going for perfectly. they also need eyes. lots and lots of eyes.

Wrath - satan. rage that blocks the ability to love. IM SO PSYCHED FOR THIS ONE. all black with saturated-red eyes and mouth. spikes to keep others away. BIG POINTY TEEFS.

Gluttony - beelzebub. abusing one's body. this one is my weakest so far in terms of having a solid concept planned for them. i do know i want parts of them covered in twisted, awful mouths full of pointy teeths.

Sloth - belphegor. neglected potential, unused gifts. i dont have much for this one yet either. i want them to have big hair and lots of bandages, little wounds. melty eyes.

Lust - asmodeus. others are objects, not people. vengeance. im making them a hunter with skulls (maybe) dangling off them. because they...... they have a high body count AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The Unforgivable Sin - a secret 8th one. BLASPHEMY. theyre gonna be white and like 90% wings. undecided on if they get a face or not.

insane kino! and you don't have to give it back, that's the nice thing about the shared braincell, we can use it at the same (at half power, but that's okay)!

i really like the ideas! that inspo you got for envy looks so cool and i'm looking forward to you translating that into a drawing / design! 

also think that the deadly sins are really tough to design, even though they're pretty popular. especially if you want them to be consistent in some way. i always feel i need to figure out "do i want them to be the embodiment of the sin, or do they make you the sinner somehow", and the latter is always really hard with certain sins like gluttony and sloth...
thinking you're shooting for the embodiment angle for these, so i like the multiple mouths for gluttony a lot, but i'll just throw out some additional ideas!

gluttony:
maybe they have a strange eating habit for non-foods? think "my strange addiction" type, so maybe they just start gnawing at doors and walls... or cannibalism, that's always an option!    they could have a sort of ritual before eating, especially a lords prayer would be kind of funny. also i like the idea of gluttony being well-groomed like they're ready for a family dinner.

sloth:
with sloth you could maybe lean into aspects of procrastinating? i'm thinking "oh i didn't have motivation until late at night" so you could give them design elements of animals that are active during the night? like an owl maybe, or give them those cool reflective eyes. or mayhap they're simply sloth because a cat decided to sit on their lap and now they cannot get up anymore! i say that partially as a joke, though you could give them an animal companion too, sort of like an accountability buddy.

the cat on lap is wholesome i love it... if i cant find a way to incorporate it in the design ill just make a silly doodle on the side
