Title: Comic Scripting vs Storyboarding?
Post by: NocturnalPossum on May 05, 2026, 04:39 PM
Do y'all tend to plan comics with Storyboards or Scripting?
I can see a strong argument for storyboarding in a visual medium so as to make it very cohesive, but scripting also seems like a more efficient way to plot out the story without having to spend a ton of time planning or drawing even very rudimentary panel layouts and drawing.
I can also see how someone, with enough practice, could be storyboarding in their head when they write a simple or full comic script.
I ask because I'm going to be working from some writing in a sort of interview style that's provided to me and I'm a bit indecisive with how I want to tackle it.  :nukobrowse:

Starting with a script is fine, but storyboard is a mandatory part of planning comics (pretty much for the reason you stated). They don't gotta be pretty either, as long as they make sense to you.
