Joshi-Joshi Forum

Hello folks! I usually go by Kaz online. My forum haunts tend to mostly be petsite related. This is my second go at an art forum and the first at one that isn't mostly comprised of complete internet strangers.

I'm not as online as I used to be anymore, and this looks like a nice space to check into once in a while. I'm trying to expand a bit on my hobbies lately. I've been very retrospective the past couple of weeks, and am reevaluating how I spend my time. I just hit 30 (and somehow the 'wow I'm old' I was expecting looks a lot more like 'well this is exciting' instead, which is great!) and really want to feel more in control of my attention and time. I really don't care about the current direction online life is taking, and really miss slower forms of community and the internet, so this place turned up at the right time!

out of curiosity, what was the other art forum u tried out?

also ooo i didn't know that you'd started to get into writing, thats really cool! what sort of writing do you find yourselc gravitating twoards? damn cant wait for the kaz fanfic era. honestly so excited to yap w u about stuff again in general, this is gonna be great!  :nukoyay:

The Crimson Daggers revival forum a few years back but it was pretty dead. I think I actually also lurked around another forum that was centered around ceramics, but that community was almost exclusively 60+ years old and had been going on for a long time, so it felt a bit weird to intrude.

Flightrising, the main petsite/forum I was very active on in the past technically also had a massive art community and very active art subsection, but I don't really think I used it as an art forum at all, outside of running a commission shop.

I like lore/world building a lot, but don't feel like I'm good enough to touch any of my personal projects yet, so I'm just writing a Warframe fic atm with a heavy emphasis on story shit haha. It was gonna be a short romance/my first try on writing smut thing, but my hand slipped and now there's dying hivemind, timetravel and corporate infrastructure and greed subplots that ended up sidelining the blorbos. Sorry blorbos. Warframe has a really cool world that's easy to expand on, because they haven't fleshed it out at all, so it's easy to use as a playground if you want to expand on the scifi or more esoteric stuff.

I've taken a stab at writing stuff before (I have a couple of orphaned fics floating around Ao3)
but this is the first multichapter thing I try out and actually get to focus more on the world. It's been really fun!

You should give Warframe a try sometime, the start is really slow but I think you'd really enjoy it! It's a really weird game. Probably my favourite after KCD/Disco Elysium when it comes to the story.

i feel similarly about the current state of the internet, and wanting to be more purposeful in general. it's a shame others feel my discontent but at the same time, it's nice to not be alone!
