it's time to start my sketchbook  :nukocheer:
at the moment i'll probably draw a good chunk of jjk and will be spoilering everything past a certain point (to not spoiler a friend) and generally stuff from season 3 in case people haven't caught up with the anime! if you plan to comment on the jjk things i'd appreciate if you could spoiler any details too, please (as well as not spoil me on the manga)!

jjk - s3 ep8

i really like higuruma, and i thought the lighting as he's about to face off yuji was really cool, so i wanted to try and draw something with it! pretty proud with how it came out, even checked the values with greyscale at the end and was surprised that i did so well despite painting it completely in color! made me feel pretty competent, haha...

also will be starting to post some of my OCs!

most of the stuff i draw with them are really just sketches, and nothing is really SUPER DUPER final...
just sort of recently changed gabriels pre-fall design to be younger to reflect that he's the youngest of the angels. though he grows up later in the... story? if you can call it that yet...!

i've considered gabriel and michael to be pretty close as things progress, though i suppose their relationship is closer to an owner and their dog during most of it. what i mean by that is, that michael has become sort of mindless over the course of events, and gabriel uses him for his own goals and ambitions.
because of that i thought it'd be cool to eventually have michael regain some sense of self again at some point, causing a conflict between the two. but that's still pretty disconnected from the concept i have for now, so it's mainly just me rotating possibilities in my head.

Waouh your art is amazing! I really like your use of colour. I also really like the design for pre-fall Gabriel.  :nukoyay:

i already REALLY badly want to yap, so i'm sorry to take your response as a bit of an invitation to post a few older pieces and sharing a bit about them...

gabriels pre-fall version always gives me a little trouble! mainly because i'm stil very unsure about it and what i truly want from it (i'll probably redesign him at some point AGAIN)...
these are two concepts i had planned for him before, since i originally kind of wanted him to be statuesque and rigid, but when i revisited it i just didn't feel it anymore. the current color combo i like a bit better, also because it makes me think of a white snake!

here are some post-fall character sheets i've made a while ago too! also because i'm happiest with both of these goobers design. think i would change very little about it, if anything.
(the additional name for michael is kinda a floating idea as well, sort of like a species title i suppose, though in reality that was his old name when i first created this OC when i was 17 or 18...)

also some additional post-fall gabriel. i like drawing him a lot, probably because of the strong colors and contrast... just tickles my brain! think i draw him and michael the most, though i draw a lot more body horror with michael than other things, i believe.

I really like the illustration of Michael (especially the body horror one, can't resist a character whose face splits up into a bunch of sharp teeth lol). It's interesting that they have unique features despite all being the same species, like how Raphael has four arms. It makes me wonder if there is a particular lore reason behind how angels are supposed to look in the story that makes them diverge in such a notable way.  :nukoyay:

it's one of the reason i'm still a little divided on raphaels design, because i did give him 4 arms pre-fall as well. though i guess i thought of them as being created with powers necessary to their "job" and in some instances it would affect their appearance. older drawing of raphael pre-fall below!

the main differences they get through corruption that makes them mutate, sort of related to their "jobs" as well. michael often being regarded as "the hand of god" / "the sword of god" it seemed sort of fitting to have a mutation that would make him more aggressive, because what are teeth if not many many swords! gabriel got a ton of eyes because he's "the eyes of god". and i plan for raphaels mutation to be even more hands, since he's "gods healer", and i see healing in scripture and the church often being done by hands being laid upon someone who needs it, so it seemed fitting!

don't even worry, i got you! will probably keep spoilering season 3 stuff nonetheless to be mindful of other people that are still catching up / waiting for the full release before watching! also been thinking of maybe picking up the manga, but if i draw something related to that i will properly tag my spoilers!

Love!! Especially two of my favorite subjects, hot men and angels. :-) What are your plans for these characters? Are you adapting them into a story or comic?

i've been thinking of making a webcomic with them eventually, whenever i feel ready enough! though maybe it's time to just do some comic strips as a proof of concept, and perhaps that'll help me properly stick to a design for the ones i'm still flippant with, or find something that would work better.  :nukowiggl:

your artwork is so delicious, it's really a delight to see it along with artist's commentary... i have loved your archangel guy's designs for so many years at this point.
also your drawings are actually convincing me to watch jjk- i've been a bit sick of shonen lately (going a bit off topic but i was super disappointed by gachiakuta lol) but your pics are so fire. maybe hype moments and aura are peak afterall

i think you should at least give it a try. i originally got into it just because i really enjoyed the animation from the clips i've seen. still want to give gachiakuta a try, but i also heard the manga is way better than the anime... the animation is enticing me though!

i'll be real... me neither. i just put the pen to the tablet and do whatever i feel like. definitely not as competent with anatomy as i COULD be, but i find i hide it pretty well with some exaggerated poses and just putting my points in aesthetics (aka i just tweak it until it looks good to me)...

kinda planning on michael to regain clarity at some point and face off against gabriel, since gabriel treated him like a lapdog for a long time to fulfill his plans.

and that made me think... what if michael snaps and suddenly starts to believe that, to restore the collective of heaven, he needs to assimilate every angel, fall or not, into himself. which would make him take on aspects of the ones he consumed? so here's a concept...

it kinda keeps raising the issue i've been struggling with for a while... that i think that the archangels are too powerful, while i keep positioning lucifer as an opposing force as just some guy. and if i'd make michael even more powerful it makes it kinda hard to think of a way lucifer could win.
maybe with the power of friendship, and i just design all the deadly sins too, but that's so many characters...

anyway, much to think about.
