Greetings I'm a Welsh NEET from Pembrokeshire!
I remember many of the people here from years ago, so I invited myself because I have no social graces and I like forums. I think it could help me to extricate myself from the other platforms that farm and sell data even if it's a bit harder to draw eyes to a portfolio or website that's unfamiliar, and even though it hasn't miraculously bolstered my skillset I'm a lot less afraid to make mistakes when drawing on a computer and open to experimentation. However, I'm trying to balance my experimentation in different media. I'm working on a game with the1banana still - There's been a rather drastic stylistic overhaul from what we were last going with and there's still no engine or nothing

I've become obsessed with the perfect brainchild of the early 2000's scattershot game development platforms, the BYOND (https://www.byond.com/) engine, and have played various SS13 servers (https://ss13.moe/) for collectively thousands of hours over the last couple of years. I have met a lot of cool people on there and particularly a lot of Russians since access to a lot of conventional social media platforms is restricted. I like Welsh etymology and literature (https://powys-society.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/pnl1_1970.pdf), music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_868DV4M-ns), I don't know what else. A lot of my fixations are too specific to bear mentioning probably
I'm usually a recluse or have the false impression of myself as one, and take measures to evade or substitute the need for human interaction. I sleep a lot and am very lazy
Nice to meet you all
youre too hard on yourself finlay! i'm glad that u feel like u can use the forum as a safe place to explore you're art.
this image uve attatched looks super cool!!! i love gow grainy it looks and how tight the pallet is, i totally get feeling a bit safer when making digital art. it's deffo more forgiving when i make a mistake >.<
this is my first time hearing abt the powys society, seems interesting!!! and i've got the video u linked up in the bg now it sounds hella relaxing :comfmonk:
welcome 2 the forum!!!! i hope u enjoy ur stay ^u^)/ !!!!
hi finlay! I have seen you around on all sortsa sites & stuff. glad to have you here!!!! banana has mentioned you from time to time, haha.
hello!!
it's nice to meet you, i'm looking forwards to learn more about your fixations, if you feel like sharing them :>
i wasn't familiar at all with BYOND, but it looks like the kind of thing you can easily get lost in... and when i was browsing the game list, i found it a little heartwarming to see people roleplaying in these games still, since i'm assuming they've been there for quite some time!
FINLAY MY BOY!!
I remember you fondly even if we didn't have many interactions. I'm glad that you wanted to come here and that you feel comfortable sharing your stuff here. The game is fresh news so me so I hope you post about it as you work on it as I'd like to keep up with the project! What genre is it planned to be and how long have you guys been working on it?
As an aside; I don't think you're as reclusive as you pen yourself to be, or else you wouldn't be on platforms like Discord and this where there is very little passive ways to interact if you want decent value from the the platforms. Though I guess these can be considered substitutions for "real" interactions, but I think that's pedantry as you're still talking to humans at the end of the day.
It was rude of me not to have responded sooner but I struggle to compose longer messages which is probably abundantly clear from the last post - It's nice to see so many familiar faces from back in the day doing art daily and whatnot and some new ones too - Thank you so much for the warm welcome and I'll post up some stuff later when there is any

I remember you fondly also - It's been casually discussed for 4 or 5 years I suppose, with small concepts and stems for the visual style and music - It's intended to be some sort of psychological horror RPG, more eerie and jarring than overtly grotesque or horrifying - SS13 has made me aware of the potential for community-driven round-based roleplaying games as well, and I was wondering about maybe starting a second project in tandem - There's still a good chance nothing will get made but there's been a resurgence in motivation recently - You can access some of the assets and concept art on my Neocities page or with this Drive link (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1q34jhH0btKU4kPgzH0tjCeONcj34viSu?usp=sharing)
